The Theory and Technology of Historic Preservation Workshop, Ritzville

March 19—20, 2010

Whether you are a preservation professional, historic home or building owner, and/or a volunteer historic commission member, this workshop is for you.

 Day one of this workshop offers an overview of the history and present state of historic preservation in America. Taught by preservation professionals, you will learn about:

• The history of historic preservation in America
• Compliance with federal, state and local laws
• Northwest Architectural Styles
• Washington Heritage Barn Register
• Historic Preservation Standards
• Preservation and downtown revitalization
• Creative mitigation strategies for adverse effects

 

Stick around for day two and learn even more.

Historic Preservation Technologies in Action

This workshop will teach you about:

• Masonry and Mortar Technologies
• Interior Finishes
• Care and Treatment of Wood Windows
Rounding out the day will be a walking tour of Ritzville’s National Historic District with a discussion of character defining features.

REGISTRATION

$100 per day or $150 for both days. !0% discount for Veterans and historic preservation commission members.

CANCELLATIONS

Participants may cancel up to seven days before the workshop for a full refund.  Cancellations received later than seven days prior to the workshop are subject to the entire registration fee. Substitutions may be made at any time.
